Hello Matt,
Thank you for your insights and I am finding Dr.Maltz’s book, Psycho-Cybernetics, quite interesting. I’ve subconsciously always had movies in my mind about me doing things I’ve never tried or getting better at things I have. My question is this: Can your self image change over time – positive, then negative, and positive again and if so, why? Can your self image be different at the same time depending on what the subject is or the people who surround you?
Thank you
Carole
Hi Carole,
Yes, your self-image changes, in fact it is always changing for the better or for the worse. Why? Because of what you are picturing in your mind on a daily basis. Your mental pictures shift based upon your results each day and how you view them. There are also environmental influences on what you are picturing, and these can be altered by the people you’re around – as well as what and who you watch, listen to and read. All of these factors go into the mix. This is why you practice the principles (tend your mental garden) on a daily basis. If you leave your garden untended, you get unintended results (weeds).
All of the above represents why you read from (and/or listen to the audio) the Psycho-Cybernetics book on a regular basis and practice the exercises. That’s also one of the reasons I wrote Psycho-Cybernetics 365. It gives you a daily primer to get your day going on the right track.
