Just realized something that I heard over 30 years ago.
With all the crud going on in the world since time immemorial, many of us, myself included, could use more laughter.
Some of us, myself dis-cluded, could use a LOT MORE.
A laugh a day helps keep that angry liver at bay.
Laughter helps heal wounds. It even helps, as Norman Cousins wrote years ago in Anatomy of an Illness, cure dis-ease.
So, as I enter Act Two of this play I get to live, I figured it was high-time to release my Inner Stepchild, to give him some good ole fashioned primal laugh therapy in my writing and my speaking.
In so doing, I believe I can toughen up more souls, giving those who read or listen to my words a shield of sorts to overcome negativity in a positive way.
So just letting you know that I’m going to help you expand your self-image more than ever before, with a bit more tongue and cheeks action.
I hope in so doing I am able to brighten your days even more.
Naturally, if you don’t enjoy humor, if you want to live each day with a frown, then I guess there’s nothing I can do about that.
Earlier today, Jim, a friend and client wrote to inform me that he just had his gall bladder removed, and can’t come see me this weekend for a live training.
I apologized and told him I would refrain from sending any more of my jokes. I told him I don’t want him to cough up a lung… until the timing is right.
Then I let him know, and I did so with all due sincerity, that I am sending hateful vibes to his gall bladder for causing him so much trouble, but lots of love for what still remains of him.
See it! Feel it. Laugh about it.

If you don’t have a system to achieve your goals, then you might as well not have any goals.
Then again, a system without a clearly defined goal can become a miracle worker.
If you get up each day and implement a system of actions that are not necessarily tied to a specific goal, you may be surprised to find that you out-achieve or over-achieve what you were focused on before.
Why?
Because as you build momentum with your system, you begin to mentally picture possibilities you never envisioned before.
Someone who has a systems goal to run two miles per day, may realize, after six months or so, that he or she could run a 10K, a half-marathon or a marathon.
The system brought about this realization.
And now, with a goal and a system to back it up, you are literally off to the races.

At a training I conducted, I asked the students to make a list of the successful experiences they have had in life so far. I gave them five minutes to begin making their lists.
Some students had trouble getting started, appearing incapable of coming up with any successful experiences.
One man, Tom, was writing nonstop the entire time. I asked him how many experiences were on his list. Tom said, “I haven’t counted them, but I’m only at age five. This list is going to be extremely long.”
Tom’s list overlooked none of the victories many people take for granted.
Being conceived in his mother’s womb was his first victory.
Being born was his second.
Then he went into learning to roll over, sit up, crawl, stand, walk, run, and jump.
It’s stunning when I meet accomplished people in virtually every profession who have trouble seeing their victories. Many of them assume that all these little wins don’t count.
Every victory counts, no matter how long ago or seemingly trivial.
Embrace the idea that you only need one positive memory to activate your Creative
Mechanism and get you on the winning path.
Open your mind to success by remembering the moments you’ve overlooked.
Is there a memory from your past that you cast aside as no big deal?
Ask yourself, “Would I rather not have had that positive experience? Would I rather not have learned to walk, talk, read, and write?

There are two environments that make it easier for you to create the results you want, to get your goals accomplished.
The first is your external environment. This is where you go to practice, train or get your work done.
It could be an office with pictures on the wall and your favorite type of music playing. It could also be a room in your home, or a cabin where you have total privacy, or a place where there is background noise, such as a coffee bar, or a pool where children are playing.
The second is your invisible, internal environment.
There is an environment within your brain-body where you are at your best, where there is zero resistance to you taking action and getting the job done.
This internal environment can vary as well. Some people prefer to tackle the most difficult task of the day first, forcing themselves, usually with will power, to do what they are prone to putting off.
I have a different approach, one where I go after one of the easiest goals I have on my list for the day. This goal may only take me five minutes (or less) to complete, but once it is finished, I have momentum on my side, and as a result, I find it easier to slide into the next objective.
Similar to a snowball, I can begin the day by pushing one that is the size of a large boulder, or I can begin to pack one together that fits inside my hands and begin to roll it forward until it is much bigger.
Afterward, I can make another snowball, going after my next goal. And with this approach, by the end of the day, I have created a fortress of completed jobs that point to a day that was well lived.
At the end of the day, as I am putting my head on a pillow, I can look at what I have accomplished and say that today was a winner.
Whichever approach you choose to use, observe your results and the method that got you there, then decide if it would be a good idea to make some tweaks in your external and internal environments.

“Live each day as if it’s your whole life.” – Sakai Yusai
When I first heard Sakai Yusai say to live each day as though it’s an entire lifetime, I wondered how such an idea was even possible.
In Psycho-Cybernetics 365, I mentioned how this marathon monk who ran 1,000 marathons in seven years, told me, “at the end of each day, you take your dirty socks off, and you wouldn’t think of putting them back on at the start of a new day.”
This could be interpreted as tossing away everything from the previous day, but it’s not.
It’s about tossing away the dirt, the negativity, the mistakes and bad memories.
At the beginning of each new day, you remember to put on a clean pair of socks, something you’ve done thousands of times before, but this time your clean socks are representative of your positive actions and attribute that you want to remember, review and repeat.
You toss out what doesn’t work, you put on what does work, what you want to repeat, what puts you into the Zone, so you get the same type of positive results over and over.
When you’re in the Zone, one day might as well be an entire lifetime, because the Zone comes along with no sense of time.
Hours are mere minutes, perhaps even mirror minutes.
With a clean pair of socks you set your troubles to the side, and as a result you are able to focus on learning something new.
Anytime you learn a little something new, your day is filled with wonder and awe.
Even when you’re practicing something you’re not yet good at, when you’re in learning mode, when you’re in clean socks mode, your day is a flowing, harmonious symphony.
And at the end of it, you’ll recognize the feeling of having lived a lifetime in one day.

We have the saying “success brings success” for a reason. With the momentum of previous victories on your side, you have the confidence to tackle anything.
There are teachers who proclaim that there is a “science” that supports having big goals instead of smaller ones, so they mandate this approach for everyone.
Psycho-Cybernetics is an actual science, based upon the brain and nervous system.
You learn a different approach to goals.
You begin by focusing on previous accomplishments. You do this before you set a daily goal or goals.
You attack those daily goals each day. You turn them into reality. This then builds momentum, catapulting you toward bigger and bigger victories.
When big goals are introduced too soon, resistance becomes the order of the day. Instead of taking deliberate, determined action, people hold themselves back and do nothing.
A goal that you cannot resist taking action on is a goal that you are going to accomplish. A goal that you resist going after weighs and drags you down.
Is there a big goal you have resisted moving toward?
If so, break it down into bite-size, daily goals that you cannot resist moving toward.
At the end of each day, take a look at your results, at how much you got done and compare this to how much you did when you were only focused on the big stuff.

North of Flathead River
A powerful question you can ask yourself whenever you feel blocked or confused goes as follows:
What am I resisting?
Take a few moments to write out this question, then record the mental pictures that come to mind.
It may be one picture.
It may be a long list.
Either way, once you have isolated the obstruction, the thing that is dragging you down, you now have a choice. You can continue resisting and feeling blah, or you can change the picture to one of yourself doing what you’ve been putting off.
When you picture yourself doing instead of resisting, you will not only “do the thing,” you will remove the obstruction that is making you feel lousy about yourself.

Many people have previously set goals that they didn’t achieve. As a result, unconsciously, they have a feeling of “here we go again” when they go through the steps once again. If this has ever happened to you, you might want to use alternative words for your goals, such as “project,” “objective,” and “target.”
I also advise that you look at your process and ask yourself if you failed because you had so many goals that your Creative Mechanism got jammed.
Did you confuse the mechanism by imagining you would build all of Rome, Italy, and Europe overnight?
Did you fail because you scared yourself away from taking action by setting goals that were too big for you at that time? Did you forget to give yourself bite-size daily process goals that would lead to the promised land?
If you answered “yes” to these questions, then you now have an opportunity to correct the mistakes you made. You can teach yourself to start smaller
and finish big.
You can learn to do more than set goals.
You can learn to get them.
When you make these corrections, the likelihood of you succeeding this time around is exponentially greater.
