If you’ve been striving for perfection and you haven’t come close, it might be time to observe the beauty that your mistakes are revealing to you.
Every mistake is an opportunity to learn, to grow, to correct and improve.
When you’re learning something new, you get more joy out of living. You’re in the moment.
When you’re beating yourself up for your mistakes, you increase the likelihood of repeating them, and there’s no joy in that.
Better to be a correctionist who is free to grow than a perfectionist who is paralyzed by fear.
Matthew Furey
P.S. Have you made a mistake today? I’ve made a dozen. Admittedly, my record-keeping may be a little shady, so I could be off by a fifth of whiskey. And most mornings, I don’t even drink.
