When you were a lot younger and intuitively smarter, you did almost everything you were allowed to do, “just for fun.”
You colored for fun. You built things for fun. You played games for fun.
Then a funny thing happened. The good times got twisted. Work became the prevailing notion, with no emphasis on fun, and in some ways, an intolerance for it.
A good friend of mine, who left the college scene after years of being a professor, told me that everything he has ever done that succeeded, he did “just for fun.”
Luck followed and accompanied him wherever he went.
Interesting, isn’t it?
When you take the fun out of life, life becomes one big, bad joke. Upon YOU.
This is why it’s so important to rekindle an Inner Smile and an Inner Laugh, to start your day. It’s why you look for things to be happy about and grateful for.
Even more, though, you remember and return to doing what you did earlier in life, when you were creating something “just for fun.” Only this time, no one is punishing you for doing so. You are free to be.
Start with one thing. Re-engage. Reconnect.
Take back that part of yourself that got replaced by the drab and the dreary.
Find that spark once again and keep it close.
Doing so will change your life for the better.
