How Thick is Your Skin?Dear Friend,
A good way to determine how focused you are on achieving a goal can be done via 'skin-fold' test - but not the kind used for measuring percentages of bodyfat.
The 'skin-fold' test I am talking about is not really about your physical epidermis. It's really more of an internal condition that is commonly referred to as 'thick skin.'
All successful people have 'thick skin.'
By this I mean they have more immunity to criticism than others. They are able to block the negativity of others and stay focused on the task at hand.
Whenever a person sets out to accomplish something great, rest assured he or she will be met with criticism. Oftentimes the criticism is severe.
Take Mel Gibson, for example. Like him or not, he set out to produce a movie called 'The Passion of the Christ.' Cost him $25 million of his own money, too.
Did he get criticized? Absolutely. In fact, the reason why he went ahead with his goal and invested his own money is because no one else in Hollywood would front the money.
Did some of the criticism Gibson received 'sting?'
Sure did. But didn't he thicken his skin and continue in the direction of his goal? Absolutely.
Net result: $500 million - and counting.
Moral of the story: 'Thicken your skin.' Stay focused on what you believe in. The faith that you alone have in your purpose may be enough to move mountains.
